A spacious private villa with amazing views

Villa Diponegoro is a spacious romantic villa of 140 m2 with amazing views of the Borobudur, the twin volcanoes Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu and the surroundings. This villa offers the unique combination of a private villa with full hotel services, just for the 2 of you or also suited for a family with 1 or 2 young children.

The villa has been built according to traditional Javanese architecture and design principles. Expert carpenters and woodworkers have hand made the teakwooden arches and typical carved roofs. The construction of the villa is ‘open’ and the high ceilings and the pointed roof in the center guarantee natural ventilation. The villa is decorated and furbished with both Javanese antiques and modern design items. The paintings are made by local artists and some are specially commissioned for the villa. All furniture, copper ware, batik and other decorations were made in the area or on the premises. Furthermore the villa is decorated with a unique stone relief showing Prince Diponegoro on his horse in the Menoreh Mountains, made by the famous Javanese artist Cipto Purnomo. From the open bedroom, the antique daybeds as well as the several terraces and the pool, one has breathtaking views of the area.

About Prince Diponegoro

Villa Diponegoro is named after the famous Prince Diponegoro, the eldest son of Sultan Hamengkubuwono III of Yogyakarta. Prince Diponegoro became a national Indonesian hero because of, amongst other things, his role in the Javanese war (1820 -1825) as its (spiritual) leader. It is widely believed that during his exile Prince Diponegoro used to rest, pray and meditate on the large rocks next to where now Villa Diponegoro is located.
